Fall is a beautiful time of year, but it’s also a time when our skin starts to dry, cuticles start to crack and lips start to chap. Are you prepared for the effects of fall weather on your skin? If not, have no fear! We’re here with the top 6 skin care tips for fall!
1! Evaluate Your Skin
Skin types change as the your body and environment around you change. It’s important to continually assess your skin to see if your skin type is the same or not. Even oily skin can dry up in the fall/winter months, and it’s important to make sure you’re using the right products for your skin!
2! Don’t Forget to Use Sunscreen
Just because you’re spending less time outdoors doesn’t mean that your skin still doesn’t need protection from the sun’s harmful rays! We often think because there are less hours of sunshine and more clouds, we are less exposed to harmful UV rays- this is Not the case. The sun’s rays penetrate the clouds and continue to harm our skin year round. Use a sunscreen that also has moisturizing benefits and you’ll be set for fall! Most dermatologists recommend an SPF of at least 30.
3! Invest in an Oil Based Exfoliant
Your body still needs an exfoliant, though some of the exfoliants you use in the summer may be a little too harsh for the winter. Oil Based Exfoliants are perfect for fall because they give you the benefits of exfoliating the dry skin away while moisturizing as well! The options are endless; you can get exfoliants that are more oily and ones that are more solid in texture. It’s the perfect fall investment!
4! Don’t Forget Your Feet!
Feet tend to be neglected over the winter months—crammed into boots that collect moisture from snow and inclement weather, they can tend to be the last thing on your mind this time of year. Take good care of them with a good moisturizer and exfoliant and you’ll have them in tip-top shape for when spring rolls back around!
5! Cuticle Oil is a Life Saver
Not only are hands more dry this time of year, but cuticles are as well! A lot of times the cuticles are neglected because hand lotion isn’t quite moisturizing enough to tackle them. This is where cuticle oil steps in. Massage a pea size amount in daily for moisturized, healthy, pain-free nails! This is also great for any other areas of your skin that are dry and cracked. Massage it into your cuticles before bed so the oil can penetrate all night!
6! Moisturize Every Day
The most important tip that we can give you for keeping dry skin at bay is to moisturize daily. The best time to do this is right after you’ve stepped out of the shower/bath. Lock in that moisture that has absorbed into your skin and capitalize on it!
